The political satire “How Green Was My Cactus”, has become the longest running series in the history of Australian radio, breaking the record set by the legendary drama “Blue Hills.” ”Cactus “ has been on air since 3rd November 1986. Robyn has created all the female characters since the first recording! “Cactus” is now celebrating 30 years on air! All the male characters are created by Keith Scott (the man of 400 voices).
Set on a mythical place called “Cactus Island” the show parodies our politicians, tall poppies, pop stars and media personalities. In the beginning, “Cactus Island” was ruled by “King Bonza the Charismatic” and “Queen Hayseed the Grouse”. (When Hazel Hawke first heard the parody she said, ”It’s close enough to be uncomfortable!”
