ROBYN AND MAKE-A-WISH:
Robyn first became enchanted with Make-A-Wish in 1992 when she recorded a commercial for a “Make-A-Wish” Walk, using her “Blinky Bill” voice! The Walk raised $14,000 towards Wish-Granting! Soon afterwards, Robyn was privileged to be invited to became National Patron of Make-A-Wish Australia …the only children’s charity in Australia that focuses solely on Wish granting. (She now shares this honour with Melissa Doyle).  As a volunteer, Robyn is also a “WISH-Granter” and constantly learns and grows  from these profoundly satisfying, moving and magical encounters with awesome WISH children and their families. This direct experience allows Robyn to speak to the Make-A-Wish Corporate Partners and their staff, to support the many Branches and Volunteers at their diverse “FUN-Raising” events and to authentically share about  “the Power of a WISH” with all her audiences!

Volunteering often gives you back more than you give!
The 4 GIFTS the WISH Children and Families have given Robyn over the years are:
“Be” INTENTIONAL…keep on going in the face of NO results!
Always do EXTRA rather than “just enough”… that’s what makes EXTRAORDINARY Wishes come true!
Find LAUGHTER in the face of the circumstances…it’s very Healing!
Live with URGENCY before the EMERGENCY!

SOPHIE’S WISH STORY: (Printed with the kind permission of Amanda…Sophie’s Mum).
This is little Wish Child Sophie…she was 3 years of age when Robyn first met her. Sophie’s WISH was to meet “Sponge Bob Square Pants” on the Gold Coast however, Sophie was extremely ill and couldn’t have this wish until she had a liver transplant!  After months of anxious waiting, a miracle happened…thanks to the “life-changing” gift from an organ donor! Sophie then had to wait again for a year, before she was well enough to go on her Wish!
When Robyn made the first home visit…Sophie was watching Blinky Bill on TV so this “waiting period” was enhanced with a Fairy Party (with the Wish Fairies Amy and Robyn) as well as lots of Phone-Calls from Blinky…sometimes with the help of audiences around Australia shouting out “Sophie, you are EXTRAORDINARY!”  Finally the time was right, and this courageous family left all the worries of Hospitals, Tests and Injections behind…and went on the “Adventure of a Lifetime” to the Gold Coast Theme Parks. It was an unforgettable HIGHLIGHT after years of illness.
Some Texts from Mum Amanda:
“Thought I’d let you know Sophie is in bed not well and watching Blinky Bill. Do you know that was the only thing that made her smile today!”
“This Make-A-Wish Holiday had more affect than any medication! Sophie returned to Tassie a new girl, something amazing happened on our holiday…to all of us. We still don’t know what it was. We think is was magic!”
“Sophie’s face lit up when she heard Blinky…and she said “BLINKY!”  (He’d rung Sophie and her new Classmates on her first day at Kindergarten!)
Sophie is now 8 years old and the family still lives with uncertainty… however the good news is that Sophie has just beaten organ REJECTION again! Blinky says she’s EXTRAORDINARY!
